'Always Healthy - Always Fresh - Nesh!!'
is the motto chosen by three entrepreneurs, Joe, Freddy and Rami
for their new restaurant, Nesh Mediterranean Grill.
Actually, it's more than a motto, it speaks to the healthy
ingredients and preparation that goes into all of their menu
selections. Nesh blends the rich food heritage of the cities
along the Mediterranean sea with 21st century lifestyles. With
flavor-rich spices, century-old cooking techniques and
equipment, your taste buds will rejoice and your body will
welcome your healthy selections!
When popular items like falafel have healthy ingredients, it's
obvious that the end result is a healthy choice. A case in point
is chickpeas (garbanzo beans), a primary ingredient of a
falafel, that is rich in fiber and protein, and have been a
human food item for over 10,000 years.
Hummus is another healthy and tasty menu item. It's high in iron
and vitamin C, and since it's made with chickpeas, it's an
excellent source of protein and dietary fiber that is
particularly useful in vegetarian and vegan diets. Another plus
is when eaten with bread, hummus provides essential amino acids.
Of course, you don't need to be a vegetarian or vegan to love
this ancient Mediterranean dish.
A hearty lunch of lentil soup and a fresh salad comprising
lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, onion, mint, green olives, enhanced
with olive oil and lemon juice is good for you and tastes great!
Lentils are legumes (beans) that have been cultivated for
thousands of years. They are mostly carbohydrates and proteins
with not very much fat and they are a rich source of fiber and
iron. Lentils are a low calorie, low fat and cholesterol free
food. Folic acid is another important nutrient found in lentils.
In fact, one cup of cooked lentils provides 90% of the
recommended daily allowance (RDA). Wow! Who knew?
Moreover, a Nesh approach to healthy food preparation is the way
we cook our meats. Our chicken and beef is marinated to enrich
the flavor and cooked rotisserie style. Of course, it doesn't
get any better than cooking kabob style, with char-grilled
skewers of meat alternating with fresh vegetables.
